Interpersonal Process Group Therapy in Austin, TX

Online Group Therapy Across Texas

Healing happens in relationship—and group therapy offers the chance to experience that in real time.

Many people consider group therapy because something in their relationships feels stuck. You may long to feel more at ease with others. You might replay conversations afterward, wonder how you came across, or notice patterns of holding back, over-functioning, withdrawing, or people-pleasing.

In a confidential setting, members are invited to share what feels emotionally relevant—whether from the present moment or from earlier experiences—and to notice how those experiences shape connection with others. The group unfolds organically through members’ interactions, allowing patterns to surface naturally rather than being imposed or directed.

The Nature of Interpersonal Process Groups

Interpersonal process groups are different from skills-based classes or topic-driven support groups. There is no curriculum. Instead, we focus on what happens between members in real time.

As you interact with others, you may begin to notice familiar dynamics:
Where you soften your needs.
Where you become guarded.
Where you move toward closeness—or away from it.
How you respond to feedback, conflict, or vulnerability.

These patterns often mirror what happens in your relationships outside of group.

Members are encouraged to offer thoughtful, respectful feedback about how they experience one another. This feedback can be clarifying. It can illuminate blind spots. It can also create new possibilities for connection.

Group therapy is not always comfortable—but it is often deeply revealing.

Emotional safety in group does not mean constant reassurance. It means confidentiality, mutual respect, and a shared willingness to engage honestly.

What Group Therapy Can Support

Over time, group therapy can help you:

  • Feel more confident and at ease in relationships

  • Express thoughts, feelings, and needs more directly

  • Understand the impact you have on others

  • Stay present during conflict rather than shutting down or escalating

  • Become more comfortable with a fuller range of emotions

  • Experience connection without performing, pleasing, or over-functioning

  • Feel less alone in thoughts or feelings you may have kept private

As the group deepens, many members find that relational patterns become more flexible, communication becomes clearer, and connection feels more authentic.

Is Group Therapy a Good Fit?

Group may be a strong fit if you:

  • Feel stuck in repeating relational dynamics

  • Long for deeper or more authentic connection

  • Notice anxiety in social settings or difficulty speaking up

  • Struggle with vulnerability, boundaries, or conflict

  • Often wonder how others experience you

  • Are open to honest reflection and giving and receiving feedback

You don’t need to be “good” at relationships to join group. You do need curiosity, a willingness to engage, and a commitment to showing up consistently.

While group can stand alone, it is often a powerful complement to individual therapy.
